Pedro Acosta was clearly upset after a tough race at the Thailand Grand Prix. He and KTM are trying to figure out why his bike struggled with tyre problems, leading to a frustrating crash.

Acosta was running in the top 10 when he crashed on Turn 1 at the start of lap four. Although he got back on his KTM RC16 and finished the race, he only managed 19th place.

Acosta explained that his bike's rear tyre suddenly lost grip while he was following Marco Bezzecchi. This caused the front of his bike to slide out, leading to his fall. Acosta believes the 2025 KTM is more prone to losing rear grip compared to last year’s bike, making it difficult to control.

"I'm really pissed off. There are so many things we don’t understand," Acosta said in an interview with Motorsport.com. "This year, it's easier for the rear to lose grip. That’s what happened behind Bezzecchi—I was sliding too much, then lost the front and crashed. It was a normal crash, but we need to find out why it happened."

He added that the only way to prevent the problem is to brake more gently, but that slows him down too much.

KTM had tyre wear issues during testing at Buriram, and those problems continued during the race weekend. The best result for KTM was only eighth place across their four bikes from both the factory and Tech3 satellite teams.

Acosta said he decided to finish the race despite crashing so KTM could gather more data. He believes the tyre wear on his bike was unusual and hopes the team can find a solution.

"That’s why I stayed in the race," he told Crash.net. "My pace wasn’t bad, but I lost 40 seconds from the crash. I hope they check the data because we had a big problem with the tyres all weekend. The tyre wear wasn’t normal, and we need to understand why."

As KTM works to solve their tyre issues, Acosta will be hoping for a more stable ride in the next race.
