News.gp journalist and a girl with big dreamsPierre Gasly believes Alpine can achieve a fifth-place finish in the 2025 Constructors’ Championship.
Alpine is heading into the 2025 season with fresh energy after a tough but ultimately promising 2024. The year started badly, with the team struggling due to an overweight and underpowered car. For much of the season, they were stuck near the bottom of the standings, but everything changed in Brazil.
A surprise double podium at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix gave them a huge boost, lifting them to sixth in the final championship and making them one of the strongest teams in the second half of the year.
Pierre Gasly, now in his third season with Alpine, believes they can build on that in 2025. Speaking at the Autosport Awards to Motorsport.com, he set a clear goal: “I’ll go with a top five in the constructors’, because that’s what I want and I think that’s definitely achievable.”
He also admitted that deep down, he hopes for more but is staying realistic. “Obviously deep inside me I'd like more than that, but I’ve got to be objective and know that it’s going to be a tight field, a competitive field, and I don’t expect massive change compared to last year.”
Alpine has also gone through big changes behind the scenes. Flavio Briatore has joined as Executive Advisor, and his arrival has already shaken things up.
Team boss Bruno Famin was replaced by Oliver Oakes, and the team made a big decision for the future—they’ll be switching from Renault to Mercedes power units in 2026 to stay competitive under the new F1 rules.
Gasly will also have a new teammate in Jack Doohan, who replaces Esteban Ocon after his move to Haas. But Alpine isn’t taking any chances. They’ve also signed young talent Franco Colapinto as a reserve driver, in case Doohan struggles.
While Briatore has set an ambitious goal of fighting for the title by 2027, Gasly’s focus is on the present—helping Alpine take the next step and secure a top-five finish in 2025.
