Jorge Martin recently praised Aprilia for making significant improvements with its 2025 prototype.
After winning the championship with Pramac Ducati, Martin will join Aprilia next season. Martin missed out on a promotion to Ducati’s factory team, which chose Marc Marquez instead.

Martin got his first experience with Aprilia during the post-season test in Barcelona. Over the course of 77 laps, he finished second overall.

Due to contractual restrictions, Martin is unable to discuss the bike in detail until next year. However, he acknowledged the progress made by Aprilia on the prototype that he and Marco Bezzecchi will ride next year.

"I can't say much about the bike, but my expression said it all to those who were there," Martin told Autosport. "I was happy, and I don’t think I could be happier anywhere else. The new package is very exciting, and the improvement this bike has made is the biggest in recent years. Its potential looks very promising."

Martin tested an early version of the bike in Barcelona, which will debut in the pre-season tests in February.

Martin’s arrival at Aprilia reflects the progress of an internal restructuring, which aims to narrow the gap with Ducati. Ducati has been a dominant force, securing 19 wins this season alone.

"Aprilia has shown me their commitment, and I’ve witnessed it firsthand," Martin said. "I can feel how much they value me and the lengths they’ll go to support me. But with that comes the responsibility of having the world champion on their team.

"We all want to win, but achieving that requires strategy and a disciplined approach to our work."

When asked about Aprilia’s tendency to struggle in the second half of the season—an issue that persisted in 2024—even Martin admitted he didn’t have a clear explanation.

"Aprilia started stronger than ever this year, but from Aragon onward, their performance began to decline," he said. "It’s hard to understand these things when you’re on the outside.

"How do you go from winning in Austin with a comeback, like Maverick [Viñales] did, to finishing over 11 seconds behind at Jerez? It’s very difficult to comprehend."
