Ducati kept its winning streak alive at the 2025 Qatar Grand Prix with another big victory from Marc Marquez. But team boss Gigi Dall’Igna says the race was also a reminder that the competition is getting stronger. He praised his riders but warned Ducati must stay sharp to keep leading the MotoGP pack.
Ducati’s MotoGP team boss, Gigi Dall’Igna, praised his riders for a dominant performance at the Qatar Grand Prix, but also delivered a cautionary note to his team after seeing just how tough the competition can be.
While Ducati continues its winning streak in 2025 with Marc Marquez taking another impressive double victory, Dall’Igna acknowledged that the challenge from rivals—especially from Maverick Viñales—reminded them that they cannot be complacent and must stay focused.
Marquez’s victory was also impressive, but it wasn’t an easy one. Franco Morbidelli took the lead in the early stages of the Grand Prix, and later, Viñales briefly led as well. But Marquez made his move in the closing laps to take the lead and win the race. Viñales, despite holding off Bagnaia to finish second, had his impressive result taken away due to a tyre pressure penalty.
Reflecting on Ducati’s performance, Dall’Igna praised both the team and the riders but reminded them of the fierce competition they are facing.
“It was another special weekend for us,” he said in Ducati's official post-race debrief. “Ducati took the top two spots with five of our bikes finishing in the top six. This victory, our 21st in a row, was especially sweet against strong rivals who reminded us of just how dangerous they can be. It’s a success that reinforces the need for us to stay vigilant and never let our guard down.”
Dall’Igna was especially impressed by Marquez’s performance in Qatar, calling it “incomparable.” He praised Marquez’s strategic approach and his ability to read the race, knowing when to hold back and when to attack.
“Marc showed once again how strong he is, with a race plan that allowed him to make a decisive move at the perfect moment,” Dall’Igna said in Ducati Corse – Post-race debrief after Qatar GP, 2025.
This win marks Marquez’s third victory in the last four long races, adding to an already stellar record. Marquez also took pole position, the sprint, and the fastest lap at a track that was never one of his favorites.
“This victory is even more remarkable because it came at a track where Marc has struggled in the past,” Dall’Igna noted in Ducati Corse – Post-race debrief after Qatar GP, 2025
As for Bagnaia, Dall’Igna was happy with his effort, even though he had to fight his way up from a lower starting position.
“Pecco had a good race, showing the fight that we expect from him,” he said in Ducati Corse – Post-race debrief after Qatar GP, 2025. “However, starting further back meant he had to use up a lot of energy early on to make up ground, which inevitably affected his performance at the end of the race.”
In summary, while Ducati celebrated another win, Dall’Igna’s words served as a reminder that the team must stay sharp and be ready for the challenges ahead.
