As a fan, I’ve always been fascinated by how the circuits shape the drama and excitement of every race. While the riders are undeniably the stars, the tracks they compete on are just as crucial in delivering unforgettable moments. Here’s my personal take on five of the best MotoGP circuits, including the legendary Brno, that I believe every fan should know about.

1. Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Spain

This circuit holds a special place in my heart. Located just outside the vibrant city of Barcelona, it offers a perfect blend of fast straights, challenging corners, and loads of overtaking opportunities. The track’s flowing nature makes it a joy to watch.

Why I Love It:

The combination of high-speed sections and technical corners creates a dynamic race every time. Plus, being so close to Barcelona means fans can enjoy the thrill of the race and the rich culture of the city.

Quick Facts:

  • Length: 4.657 km
  • Corners: 16 (9 right, 7 left)
  • First MotoGP Race: 1996

2. Phillip Island Circuit, Australia

Phillip Island feels like the perfect combination of natural beauty and motorsport excellence. Located along Australia’s coastline, the circuit is known for its fast, sweeping curves that push riders to their limits. The track’s proximity to the ocean creates a stunning backdrop, making it one of the most picturesque circuits on the calendar.

Why I Love It:

There’s nothing like watching riders navigate the high-speed corners of Phillip Island, especially iconic sections like Lukey Heights. The unpredictable weather also adds an extra layer of excitement, as races often turn into strategic battles.

Quick Facts:

  • Length: 4.448 km
  • Corners: 12 (7 left, 5 right)
  • First MotoGP Race: 1989

3. Mugello Circuit, Italy

Located among the rolling hills of Tuscany, Mugello is a masterpiece of speed and technical challenges. It features one of the longest straights in MotoGP, where riders reach speeds over 350 km/h. The sharp corners like Arrabbiata 1 and 2 make it a true test of skill and endurance.

Why I Love It:

Mugello’s atmosphere is unmatched, with passionate fans creating an electric vibe. The track itself is a rider’s dream, demanding precision and bravery in equal measure.

Quick Facts:

  • Length: 5.245 km
  • Corners: 15 (9 right, 6 left)
  • First MotoGP Race: 1976

4. Automotodrom Brno, Czech Republic

Brno is a track that perfectly balances history and modern racing demands. Its wide layout and elevation changes create plenty of opportunities for overtaking, while the surrounding forest adds a unique charm. And with the circuit being back on the calendar, we are up for a thrilling weekend.

Why I Love It:

I’ve always admired how Brno challenges riders with its uphill climbs and fast, flowing corners. The track’s design encourages bold moves, and watching a race there always feels amazing.

Quick Facts:

  • Length: 5.403 km
  • Corners: 14 (8 right, 6 left)
  • First MotoGP Race: 1965

5. Circuit of the Americas (COTA), USA

COTA is a modern marvel that showcases a mix of sharp corners and fast straights. The uphill charge into Turn 1 is one of the most dramatic starts in the MotoGP calendar, and the track’s variety ensures that races are never dull here.

Why I Love It:

COTA’s unique layout keeps me hooked every time. I especially enjoy the sweeping section inspired by Silverstone’s Maggots-Becketts and the thrilling overtakes into the sharp Turn 12.

Quick Facts:

  • Length: 5.513 km
  • Corners: 20 (9 right, 11 left)
  • First MotoGP Race: 2013
