News.GP journalist who’s all about the thrilling worlds of MotoGP and Formula 1.Jack Miller is playing a key role in Yamaha’s MotoGP revival. As part of the Pramac Yamaha team, he’s working closely with the factory squad to improve the bike and push for better results. Here’s how his experience and teamwork are shaping Yamaha’s comeback.
After racing with factory teams like Ducati and KTM, Jack Miller is now in a satellite team, yet he doesn’t feel like he is missing out. The Australian rider has joined the new Pramac Yamaha team, which is making history as the first independent Yamaha team to receive full factory-spec bikes.
Even though he is no longer in a factory team, Miller insists that Yamaha and Monster Yamaha are working as one big unit.
Miller is confident that both Yamaha teams are cooperating fully.
“Absolutely. We share pretty much everything,” he explained in an interview with MotoGP.com. “We're talking all the time, discussing different changes, different setups, and stuff like that. Throughout the day, we’re constantly updating each other on what changes we’ve made and how the bike feels. I feel like we are a four-rider squad.”
Miller has one of the most diverse MotoGP careers in the Yamaha lineup, having raced for Honda, Ducati, and KTM before. He’s been on the podium with all three and even won races with Honda and Ducati. Now, his mission is to help Yamaha recover from a tough season in which they failed to score a single podium.
The team’s main focus? Improving rear grip and electronics.
Miller praised Ducati’s ability to make the most of the Magneti Marelli control electronics, something Yamaha is still figuring out.
“Ducati have it working the best out of anybody, I think,” he said in an interview with Crash.net. “Yamaha is still learning how to get the most out of the software and the tools to make adjustments. But they’re working extremely hard. Already, it’s ten times better than last year, and every week we’re getting updates and new software to test.”
The goal is to fine-tune the traction control system so it offers more options for adjustment.
With both Yamaha teams working closely together, Miller is determined to help push the brand forward. As the MotoGP season moves to its third round at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA), Miller is currently 13th in the championship—making him the top Yamaha rider. The development work will continue, and Miller is optimistic about the progress being made.
