News.gp journalist and a girl with big dreamsAston Martin went through a leadership reshuffle, naming Andy Cowell as Team Principal and moving Mike Krack to Chief Trackside Officer role.
Aston Martin has announced a significant restructuring of its Formula 1 leadership to boost its chances of competing at the top again.
Andy Cowell, who was the team’s CEO, is now also the Team Principal. He takes over from Mike Krack, combining both roles to lead the team on and off the track. The Briton is well-known for his success at Mercedes, where he led the development of championship-winning engines.
In 2024, Aston Martin only scored 94 points, a big drop from the 280 points the year before. This led to a shake-up in the team’s structure, including the exit of former Technical Director Dan Fallows.
The team has now split its aerodynamics, engineering, and performance work into two groups: one focused on trackside operations and the other based at their Silverstone factory.
Mike Krack has moved into a new position as Chief Trackside Officer. He will continue to work with the race team but focus on improving trackside performance.
Enrico Cardile, who joined from Ferrari, is the new Chief Technical Officer. He will lead the factory-based team and oversee the design and building of Aston Martin’s race cars.
Cowell said: "I have spent the last three months understanding and assessing our performance, and I've been incredibly impressed by the dedication, commitment and hard work of this team.
"With the completion of the AMR Technology Campus and our transition in 2026 to a full works team, alongside our strategic partners Honda and Aramco, we are on a journey to becoming a Championship-winning team.
"These organisational changes are a natural evolution of the multi-year plans that we have scheduled to make and I'm incredibly excited about the future."
