News.GP journalist who’s all about the thrilling worlds of MotoGP and Formula 1.Marc Marquez announces he will part ways with long-time sponsor Red Bull as he joins the factory Ducati MotoGP team in 2025. The eight-time world champion discusses the challenges and pressure of transitioning to the Ducati squad, including the sponsorship shift to Monster Energy.
Marc Marquez has announced that he will part ways with Red Bull next year as he moves to the factory Ducati MotoGP team.
Marquez has been sponsored by Red Bull throughout his career, with the brand featured on his helmet, even during his recent move from Honda to Gresini Racing.
A significant challenge in Marquez’s move to Ducati is the sponsorship issue, as Ducati has a partnership with Monster Energy. While no official resolution was announced after he signed with Ducati, the end of his partnership with Red Bull was reportedly suggested during the post-season Barcelona test.
During that test, Marquez debuted with the factory Ducati team, using a bike and gear that lacked his usual Red Bull branding.
At a recent event at Red Bull’s Hangar 7 in Austria, Marquez confirmed that the partnership would not continue into 2025.
“This is the final event now,” he said during the event. “Ducati has another sponsor, so we can’t go on. Out of respect for Red Bull, I will not have a personal sponsor. I want to thank the Red Bull family, and I hope we remain friends.”
Marquez’s involvement with Monster Energy in 2025 remains uncertain, but it is unlikely to take the form of a personal sponsorship like his Red Bull deal.
At the same event, Marquez revealed that he isn’t joining Ducati to position himself as the number one rider.
“I’m joining the world champion team,” he stated. “I already feel the pressure, but that’s what I wanted. I needed to step out of my comfort zone at Honda.
“I had the chance, and I took it. Next year, I’ll have to approach things differently. At Honda, I was the number one rider, and new teammates came in trying to match me. Now I’m part of a new team, and Pecco [Bagnaia] has achieved a lot there in recent years.”
