Lando Norris was the fastest man on Wednesday, followed by George Russell and Max Verstappen.
Lando Norris topped the timesheets on the first day of 2025 F1 pre-season testing with a fastest lap of 1:30.430, giving McLaren an early boost. His teammate Oscar Piastri finished further down in 17th place with a 1:32.084, suggesting the team may have been running different programs or focusing on setup work.
Mercedes showed strong pace with George Russell securing 2nd place with a 1:30.587, while rookie Kimi Antonelli put in a solid performance to finish 7th with a 1:31.428 in his first official F1 test session.
Red Bull was also near the top, with Max Verstappen ending the day in 3rd with a 1:30.674, while reserve driver Liam Lawson placed 8th with a 1:31.560.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc secured 4th place with a 1:30.878, while Lewis Hamilton, in his first official outing for the team, finished 13th with a 1:31.834, possibly focusing on long-run data collection.
Williams impressed with Carlos Sainz taking 5th place on a 1:30.955 in his team debut, while Alexander Albon wasn’t far behind in 9th with a 1:31.573, hinting at strong one-lap pace for the team.
Alpine had a solid showing in the midfield, with Pierre Gasly in 6th place on a 1:31.353 and Jack Doohan in 14th with a 1:31.841.
Racing Bulls saw Yuki Tsunoda end the day in 10th with a 1:31.610, while rookie Isack Hadjar finished just behind him in 11th with a 1:31.631, indicating close performance between their drivers.
Sauber had Gabriel Bortoleto as their best-placed driver in 12th with a 1:31.690, while Nico Hulkenberg finished 18th with a 1:32.169.
Aston Martin drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll were closely matched, with Alonso in 15th on a 1:31.874 and Stroll in 16th with a 1:31.949.
Haas struggled for speed, with Esteban Ocon finishing 19th on a 1:33.600 and Oliver Bearman in 20th with a 1:35.522, though their focus may have been more on reliability and setup work.
The day went overall smoothly, with only the afternoon session briefly disrupted by a power outage at the circuit. A failure in the track's electrical system led to a red flag. Once power was restored, the FIA agreed to extend the session for another hour so the teams won't lose any testing time.
