The 2024 season will be remembered for many moments, from Jorge Martin’s title victory to Marc Marquez’s comeback, and Francesco Bagnaia’s 11 race wins. Yet, there is one standout takeaway from this season: Ducati was simply exceptional.

After Bagnaia secured back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023, both he and Ducati entered 2024 as the favourites for the title. The question, however, was whether they could make their bike even better than it already was. As riders from VR46 and Gresini discovered, yes, Ducati could do that.

Aprilia claimed the only non-Ducati win of the season, with Maverick Viñales taking victory in Austin, while KTM had their rising star Pedro Acosta and Brad Binder. But ultimately, Ducati proved to be unstoppable. Four of the best riders, with a combined total of 14 titles, aboard the bike led to unbeatable success.

Now, let’s take a look at the season in numbers to better understand these achievements:

Record number of wins in one season: 19
Ducati only missed one victory in the Americas GP. Yet, the Ducati pack was led by Bagnaia and his 11 wins, while Martin and Marquez each took three wins, and Bastianini secured two.

Record number of 1-2 finishes: 17
It’s almost easier to count the races where Ducati didn’t claim this type of finish. The first time was at the season opener in Qatar, where Brad Binder finished second behind Bagnaia. The second moment was again in America, where Viñales won. The final instance was in Indonesia, when Acosta took second behind Martin.

Record number of podiums in a season: 53
Only two Ducati riders (Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio) missed out on a podium finish this season. The rest, including Alex Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi, each grabbed at least one podium finish.

Record number of podium lockouts: 14
In only three races (Portimao, Aragon, and Buriram) did a non-Ducati rider make it to the podium, with Acosta finishing third on each occasion.

But these aren’t the only achievements of the season. Ducati also took three consecutive Riders’ titles for the first time in their history and secured their fifth consecutive Constructors’ Championship. This five-year streak makes Ducati the first constructor in MotoGP to accomplish such a triumph.

Ducati’s dominance extends further with a remarkable 66-race streak where at least one Ducati rider has stood on the podium. Even more impressive is the statistic for front-row starts: 80 consecutive races have seen at least one Ducati rider starting from pole, second, or third.

As we now look ahead to 2025, Ducati will try to keep their momentum. Meanwhile, competitors like KTM, Aprilia, and Honda will be working hard to close the gap and challenge Ducati.
