RACE DAY TIPS

  • Arrive early: With large crowds, early arrival is crucial to ensure smooth entry and to secure a good spot.
  • Prepare for the weather: Italy can be hot during race weekends, so bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. Be prepared for sudden showers as well, so packing a rain jacket is wise.
  • Pack snacks and water: Prices for food and drink at the circuit can be steep, so bringing your own snacks and a refillable water bottle can help keep you energized.
  • Explore the fan zone: Imola has a vibrant fan zone with merchandise stands, interactive experiences, and food trucks. It’s worth taking some time to explor.
  • Ear protection: The sound of F1 engines is deafening. Make sure to bring earplugs or noise-canceling headphones, especially for children.
  • Take advantage of free practice: If you’re attending on Friday, make sure to watch the practice sessions. It’s less crowded and a great way to familiarize yourself with the circuit.
  • Bring a portable charger: Between taking photos, videos, and navigating the track, your phone battery will deplete quickly. A portable charger can save the day.
  • Plan your exit strategy: After the race, traffic can be heavy, and public transport crowded. If driving, consider leaving early to avoid congestion, or prepare for packed trains and buses.

WHERE TO STAY

  • Bologna: Many fans opt to stay in Bologna, where they can enjoy a rich cultural experience along with the convenience of public transport to the circuit. The city offers a range of accommodations, from budget hotels to luxury stays.
  • Imola: For those looking to stay close to the action, Imola has a range of smaller hotels and guesthouses. However, accommodations fill up quickly during race weekends, so early booking is recommended.
  • Camping close to the track: Imola is an excellent place for camping, thanks to the typically mild weather during race weekends, which makes it an ideal choice. Most campsites are conveniently located within walking distance of the circuit, allowing you to avoid race-day traffic. For a hassle-free experience, we recommend options like GPtents or Easy Camping.
