Red Bull’s trick of adjusting car ride height under parc ferme conditions has been exposed and plan of changes has been agreed with the FIA.
Before the US Grand Prix weekend, a report came out saying that one F1 team was being looked at for using a device to change the car's ride height between qualifying and the race.
However, this is a direct violation of F1 rules, which do not allow any changes to the car's aerodynamic setup in parc fermé, apart from the front wing.
After teams raised concerns about a rival possibly bending these rules to get an advantage, the governing body decided that new rules would be put in place starting from the Austin weekend.
Later on, it was revealed that the guilty one was Red Bull.
The team then admitted the existence of a device to change its front bib height but argues that it cannot be used when the car is assembled.
As a result, a plan of changes has been agreed with the FIA to ensure it operates within the technical regulations.
Red Bull team representative said: "Yes it exists although it is inaccessible once the car is fully assembled and ready to run.
"In the numerous correspondence we have with the FIA, this part came up and we have agreed on a plan going forward."
When Max Verstappen got a question about what is happening, he replied: "Nothing. I mean, it's open-source, right? Everyone can see it.
“For us, it was just an easy tool, when the parts were off, it was easy to adjust. But once the whole car is built together, you can't touch it.
“So for us, it doesn't change....when I read it, I was thinking about other teams doing it, and then I found out it was related to our team.
"We never even mentioned it in the briefing. So it's just an easier tool to adjust that."
When asked if it had any impact on performance, Verstappen simply said: "No."
