Former Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner has officially dropped his lawsuit against Haas Formula, LLC after the two parties reached an agreement through mediation.

The legal dispute, which began in April last year, centered around Steiner’s claim that he was owed money following the non-renewal of his contract. He also alleged that Haas had continued to use his name and likeness to promote the team even after his departure.

The lawsuit argued that Haas F1’s growth, particularly in the U.S., was largely attributed to Steiner’s presence and popularity. The filing stated: "The popularity of Formula 1 in America is rapidly growing, and Haas F1 has grown with it. But neither Haas F1 nor Formula 1 would exist in the modern United States if not for Guenther Steiner." His role in the Netflix docu-series Drive to Survive significantly boosted his public image, making him one of the most recognizable figures in the paddock.

However, documents from the Mecklenburg County Clerk of Superior Court confirm that both parties participated in voluntary mediation, which lasted 28 hours and 36 minutes. Following this process, an agreement was reached on all issues, leading Steiner to dismiss the case with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled in the future.

In a statement issued to the media, Haas F1 confirmed the resolution, saying: "Haas Formula, LLC is pleased to announce that Guenther Steiner and Haas Formula, LLC have resolved their dispute, that Guenther Steiner has withdrawn all allegations previously made in his lawsuit, and all claims asserted against Haas Formula, LLC have been dismissed with prejudice.

"Both Mr. Steiner and Haas Formula, LLC wish each other success in their future endeavors and will have no further comments on this matter."

Steiner, who was Haas’ team principal from 2014 until his replacement by Ayao Komatsu in 2024, oversaw the team’s most successful season in 2018 when it finished fifth in the Constructors’ Championship. However, in his final seasons, the team struggled, finishing last in two of the three years before Komatsu took over and led Haas to seventh place in 2024. Despite the legal battle, both Steiner and Haas F1 now appear to have moved on, officially closing this chapter of their relationship.
