The 2025 Formula 1 grid is finally complete, with Isack Hadjar confirmed as the last driver to join, taking the second seat at Racing Bulls alongside Yuki Tsunoda.

This announcement wraps up what’s been one of the most eventful driver markets in recent years, with plenty of surprises and fresh faces entering the sport.

Six rookies will debut in 2025—a number we haven’t seen since 2010, when a wave of new teams joined F1. In addition to Hadjar, Oliver Bearman will join Haas, Andrea Kimi Antonelli has signed with Mercedes, Gabriel Bortoleto moves up to Sauber, Jack Doohan will race for Alpine, and Liam Lawson has been promoted to Red Bull.

Lawson's promotion to Red Bull is actually one of the biggest surprises. After competing in just 11 races, he steps in to replace Sergio Perez, who was let go following a challenging 2024 season in which Red Bull finished third in the Constructors' Championship.

Daniel Ricciardo, who had been for a long time seen as a good replacement for Perez, will also be missing on the grid as he has been dropped after the Singapore Grand Prix and replaced by the same driver as the Mexican.

Sauber, which will rebrand as Audi in 2026, chose an entirely new driver lineup for 2025, leaving talented Guanyu Zhou and experienced Valtteri Bottas without full-time seats. Despite this, both are expected to stay involved in F1, with Bottas already confirmed as Mercedes' 2025 reserve driver and Zhou emerging as a top contender for Ferrari’s third seat.

Another big surprise was Lewis Hamilton’s decision to leave Mercedes and join Ferrari for 2025 as after over a decade of success and record-breaking moments with Mercedes, Hamilton wants to end his carreer at the iconic Italian team.

Three drivers will also be making moves in 2025. Carlos Sainz is joining Williams after Lewis Hamilton took his seat at Ferrari, with no other top teams showing interest in signing him. Nico Hulkenberg, chosen by Audi for his experience, will join Sauber to prepare for the new project coming in 2026. Meanwhile, Esteban Ocon, following some internal issues in Alpine, has opted to switch to Haas for the new season.
