Red Bull Racing is entering its final season with Honda in 2025, bringing an end to a successful partnership that began in 2019. Over the years, the team and engine supplier have achieved a lot together, winning four Drivers’ Championships, two Constructors’ titles and more than 60 races.

To celebrate everything they’ve accomplished, Red Bull is unveiling a special white car design for the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka, created as a tribute to Honda’s long and proud history in Formula 1.

The new white livery may look similar to the one used by the Racing Bulls team this season, but it’s actually based on a design Red Bull first revealed at the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix. That livery was also a tribute to Honda, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Japanese Grand Prix was cancelled that year, and fans never got the chance to see it at Honda’s home race. Now, in 2025, Red Bull is bringing that idea back, this time on Honda’s home circuit.

The design is inspired by Honda’s first Formula 1 race-winning car, the RA272, which took victory at the 1965 Mexican Grand Prix. Painted in a shade known as “Championship White,” the car has become a symbol of Honda’s racing identity.

There’s another reason this weekend is important. Yuki Tsunoda, the Japanese driver who has been supported by Honda throughout his career, will make his debut for Red Bull Racing. He’s taking the place of Liam Lawson and will race in front of his home crowd for the first time as a Red Bull driver. For Honda, it’s a proud moment to see a home-grown talent driving for the top team on their own track.

Although Honda officially stepped back from Formula 1 after 2021, they’ve continued to support Red Bull behind the scenes. For 2026 Honda prepares to join forces with Aston Martin.

Red Bull Team Principal, Christian Horner, said: “Our relationship with Honda deserves celebration, it has been one of continued success and brought the Team one of the most triumphant and dominant periods in our history.

“Max has won four World titles with a Honda Power Unit and the Team have lifted two Constructors’ titles, in addition, Honda’s reliability enabled to complete the most successful season in the sport’s history in 2023.

“This livery is a tribute to Honda’s success in the sport and the final year of, what has been a thoroughly enjoyable partnership. I am looking forward to seeing it out on track.”

Koji Watanabe, President of Honda Racing Corporation (HRC), added: “It is quite moving to see the RA272 tribute livery on the latest Red Bull Racing machine, in the final year of Honda and Red Bull’s partnership. Our successful path will continue to shine in the history of F1.”
