KTM has made it clear that it is committed to MotoGP for a long time, even if they face financial struggles at the moment. The Austrian motorcycle manufacturer has already started working on its next-generation MotoGP bike for the 2027 regulation changes.

Financial Problems

In December of last year, KTM entered administration to reorganize its operations amid growing debts. Some creditors had even pushed for KTM to leave MotoGP to cut costs, and a court document suggested a possible exit, yet no specific date was mentioned.

With the 2027 regulation changes bringing new technical rules, including a shift to 850cc engines, there are doubts about whether KTM could even afford to develop a brand-new bike from scratch.

A Future in MotoGP

Despite these concerns, KTM showed confidence at the launch of its updated RC16 bike. Motorsport director Pit Beirer confirmed that the company has already started planning its 2027 MotoGP bike.

“The 2027 project is still in its early stages because the rules were only recently finalized,” Beirer explained. “We can’t build the bike just yet, but our engineers are already working on it. There is a timeline in place, and we are committed to this project.”

Important Date: February 25

KTM is set to have four bikes in the 2025 MotoGP season. However, the company’s future will become clearer after February 25, when creditors will vote on its restructuring plan. Creditors are expected to receive at least 30% of their loans back, and more details about KTM’s racing division will likely be revealed after that date.

KTM Stays Committed

Despite speculation about a possible exit, Beirer insists that KTM has no plans to leave MotoGP.

“I can guarantee that we have a strong, long-term plan for this company,” he said. “We’re not thinking in terms of just one or two years—we want KTM to be here forever, including our racing department.”

For now, KTM fans can stay calm knowing that KTM remains dedicated to competing in MotoGP, with exciting developments already in motion for the 2027 regulations.
