Charles Leclerc and Pierre Gasly are disqualified after their cars were found to be underweight after the Chinese Grand Prix.
Leclerc finished the race in 4th place, even though he raced with a broken front wing, while Gasly ended the race in 11th, outside the points. After the race, both cars were weighed by FIA officials. Leclerc's Ferrari, with a replacement front wing after the damage, and Gasly's Alpine were each found to be 799kg, just 1kg under the minimum weight limit.
The issue has been referred to the FIA stewards, whom decided to disqualify both drivers.
According to the FIA reports, Leclerc’s car was first weighed after the race and showed 800kg, which is the minimum required. However, after replacing the damaged front wing with an official spare, the car was re-weighed, and the weight was 800.5kg. After draining the fuel, 2 liters were removed, and the car was weighed again, showing 799kg. The FIA confirmed that the scales used for weighing were properly calibrated.
In Gasly’s case, his car was also weighed after the race and showed 800kg, which met the required minimum. After a fuel check, 1.1kg of fuel was removed, and the car was weighed again, showing 799kg.
Both Leclerc and Gasly are disqualified, it means that Lance Stroll moves up into the points. The investigation is finished, and the stewards decided for disqualifications.
