The Belgian Grand Prix will remain on the Formula 1 calendar until 2031, thanks to a new multi-year agreement.

The Spa-Francorchamps circuit is known for its high-speed straights and legendary corners like Eau Rouge and Raidillon, remains a favorite among fans and drivers alike.

However, the Grand Prix will adopt a rotational schedule, hosting races in 2026, 2027, 2029, and 2031. This arrangement means the venue will miss out on races in 2028 and 2030, marking the first time Belgium will not feature on the calendar since 2006, when the race was canceled due to repair work.

Spa's position has been under threat in recent years due to the expansion of the F1 calendar and the sport's pursuit of new markets. Speculation of a bi-annual rotation with Zandvoort’s Dutch Grand Prix emerged as a solution to retain Spa’s presence. However, with Zandvoort leaving the schedule after 2026, the new agreement ensures Spa’s continuation, albeit in a less frequent role.

Recent investments at Spa-Francorchamps have helped secure its future. These include two new grandstands, adding 10,000 seats, and enhancements to fan entertainment and facilities.

The deal, reportedly costing organizers around $22 million annually in previous seasons, is notably lower than fees paid by newer venues such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar, which contribute around $55 million per year.

Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1, said: "The Belgian Grand Prix was one of the races that made up our maiden Championship in 1950, so as we kick off our 75th anniversary year it is fitting that we can share the news of this important extension.

"Spa-Francorchamps is rightly lauded by drivers and fans alike as one of the finest racetracks in the world and it has played host to some incredible moments over its many seasons in Formula 1. In recent years it has undergone significant work to improve the facility and overall fan experience, and I would like to pay tribute to the promoter and the Government of Wallonia for their dedication and passionate support for Formula 1 in Belgium."
