The Free Practice session at the Spanish Grand Prix began under bright and sunny skies. As soon as the session started, most riders rushed out onto the track, wasting no time.

Jack Miller was the first to set a fast lap and briefly took the lead, but others quickly caught up. Early lap times were around the 1:39 mark. Marc Márquez was the first to return to the garage to discuss his bike setup with the team.

Meanwhile, Fabio Quartararo jumped to the top with a time of 1:39.294. But Alex Marquez responded right away, going even faster and dipping into the 1:38 range. With just six minutes into the session, lap times started to drop quickly. Raul Fernandez surprised everyone by taking the lead with a 1:38.479.

But Alex Marquez was flying and set an impressive time of 1:37.686 to reclaim the top spot. Francesco Bagnaia wasn’t able to improve much and stayed between 6th and 10th. Joan Mir was the surprise of the session, climbing to second place with 10 minutes in. Even when Bagnaia improved, Mir immediately took back his position. Soon, Marc Marquez returned to the track.

At the 11-minute mark, several riders headed back to the pits, leaving only half the grid out. Alex Marquez remained in the lead, with Quartararo in second. Quartararo was clearly the fastest Yamaha rider so far. The top KTM rider was Maverick Viñales in seventh.

Marc Marquez struggled with his setup and couldn’t get a fast lap in. He returned to the pits, talking with his mechanics. A funny moment happened when Marc accidentally passed his garage, and a mechanic had to run after him! Clearly unhappy with the bike, his team worked hard to make improvements.

With 15 minutes gone, only three riders were on track: Ai Ogura, Brad Binder, and Aleix Espargaró—returning this weekend as a wildcard for HRC Honda.

Marc came back on track using his second bike, while his team continued working on the first one due to a mechanical issue. The leaderboard stayed the same: Alex Márquez in first, Quartararo second, and Joan Mir third. Bagnaia moved up to fourth, with Johann Zarco in fifth. Aleix Espargaró was 16th. Marc, after his first full lap, was 11th as he still lacked pace.

But then Marc Marquez delivered! He set the fastest lap and jumped to the top of the leaderboard. Around 25 minutes in, a yellow flag appeared briefly in Sector 4, likely due to someone going off track.

Viñales had a lap cancelled for exceeding track limits, but on the next one, he bounced back and improved to fourth place. With 18 minutes to go, Alex Marquez crashed in Sector 1, causing another yellow flag. At the 15-minute mark, most riders were in their garages, and the top 10 were all within the 1:37 range.

With just 8 minutes left, riders started heading out again for their final flying laps. Alex Marquez took back the lead from his brother Marc. Quartararo and Viñales remained in the same spots. Alex was the only rider to break into the 1:36s range.

In the final 3 minutes, riders pushed hard. Joan Mir moved up to 5th, and Alex Rins climbed to 9th. Aleix Espargaró improved to 12th, and on his final lap, made it into the top 10.

In the end, Alex Marquez topped the session, finishing ahead of his brother Marc Marquez, with Fabio Quartararo in third.
