Pedro Acosta, who made an impressive MotoGP debut in 2023, is now at the center of transfer rumors. With KTM facing severe financial difficulties and €3 billion in debt, Ducati is reportedly interested in securing the young rider's future. Despite his contract with KTM lasting until 2026, Acosta’s future is uncertain as rival teams circle.
Pedro Acosta could potentially become a target for a rival manufacturer due to concerns surrounding KTM's financial troubles.
KTM is facing a financial crisis, with rumors of €3 billion in debt, leading the company to enter self-administration to address these urgent financial issues. Despite assurances that their racing programs will remain unaffected, the situation could have a ripple effect on their star rider, Acosta.
The Spanish rider made a huge impact in MotoGP during his rookie season this year and was quickly promoted from Tech3 to the factory team for 2025. However, Ducati is reportedly eyeing Acosta's long-term future, according to GPOne.
Although Acosta's contract runs until the end of 2026, KTM's financial problems could encourage their rivals to try to lure him away. Acosta's manager is Albert Valera, who also manages Jorge Martin and Aleix Espargaro.
Ducati has already learned the challenge of managing too many top riders. Martin, Enea Bastianini, and Marco Bezzecchi are all leaving the manufacturer ahead of next season. Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia are expected to dominate the factory team for the next two years, which would likely block Acosta's potential entry.
The VR46 and Gresini teams remain Ducati's two satellite projects, with only one factory bike available between them. However, the rider lineup could shift in the upcoming year, with Ducati likely keeping an eye on Acosta, who finished sixth in the standings.
