News.GP journalist who’s all about the thrilling worlds of MotoGP and Formula 1.MotoGP is taking its battle against piracy to the next level by extending its partnership with Sportian. With AI-powered technology and advanced tracking tools, they are successfully identifying and removing illegal streams, ensuring fans enjoy high-quality, official broadcasts.
Even when it cannot be seen, MotoGP is battling against illegal streaming. That’s why they are extending their long-term partnership with Sportian, the sports division of tech giant Globant. This collaboration has already achieved impressive results in tracking down piracy and helping to remove illegal broadcasts from many platforms.
For five years, MotoGP has been working with LALIGA (Sportian’s co-founder) to fight illegal content distribution. Thanks to advanced tracking technology, they have successfully taken down unauthorized streams from social media, apps, video-on-demand (VOD) services, and illegal streaming websites. Now, Sportian’s Piracy Guard is setting new standards in sports anti-piracy efforts.
Looking ahead, MotoGP and Sportian plan to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to improve piracy detection and classification. These technologies should help identify and remove illegal content more efficiently, ensuring that fans get access to official broadcasts.
Piracy Guard offers both reactive and proactive security solutions. While it quickly removes illegal content, it also monitors new threats and adapts to evolving piracy tactics. Over the next year, Sportian is expected to upgrade these services, using automation and predictive analytics to strengthen MotoGP’s defenses.
After all, MotoGP isn’t just about action on the track—it breaks records while doing it. In 2024, the sport surpassed 3 million spectators for the first time in its history and continues to see massive growth in global TV viewership.
How Piracy Guard Works
Piracy Guard combines advanced detection tools with expert oversight, ensuring unauthorized streams are identified and removed in real-time. Originally developed from LALIGA’s in-house piracy team, the system now collaborates with over 70 major online platforms and holds Google TCRP certification. With a removal success rate exceeding 90%, it plays a crucial role in supporting legal action.
