Jorge Martin has finally been discharged from hospital after a devastating crash during the Qatar Grand Prix. But while he's now out of immediate danger, the reigning MotoGP champion is still facing a long and uncertain road back to the grid. With 11 broken ribs and a collapsed lung, his 2025 comeback is on hold—and fans may not see him race again for several months
Jorge Martin has been officially discharged from Hamad General Hospital in Qatar, after his crash during the Qatar Grand Prix, yet this is only the start of his recovery journey.
Martin had been in an incident with Fabio Di Giannantonio, from which he broke 11 ribs and had a collapsed lung. It was dramatic but mostly painful to watch, as it was supposed to be his start of a comeback in the 2025 season. He had to leave the start because of earlier injuries.
Even though he is now out of the hospital, Martin will remain in Qatar for a few more days under medical observation. And according to an official update from the Aprilia team, doctors want to make sure he is fully stable before they try to fly him home. Because of the lung trauma, air travel is risky for him, so that is why his return to Europe will require a specially assisted flight.
The recovery timeline is still unclear, yet the MotoGP doctors suggest it will take around 3 months. And that is a tough thing to hear not only for Martin but also for the team and fans.
