Fred Vasseur, Ferrari team principal, remains unconcerned about Lewis Hamilton’s recent struggles with Mercedes as the seven-time champion prepares to join Ferrari next season. Despite an inconsistent season with the W15 car and challenges like a disappointing 12th-place finish at the Qatar Grand Prix, Vasseur views Hamilton’s talent as unchanged.

Hamilton’s woes this season have included difficulties in matching his teammate George Russell’s pace, compounded by mistakes like a jump start, a puncture, and a drive-through penalty for speeding in Qatar. After the race, Hamilton candidly admitted: “I’m definitely not fast anymore,” raising eyebrows across the paddock.

However, Vasseur dismissed concerns, pointing to Hamilton’s remarkable recovery in Las Vegas, where he surged from 10th on the grid to finish second, closely trailing Russell. “Not at all,” Vasseur said when asked if Hamilton’s remarks worried him. “Look at the 50 laps he did in Vegas. Starting P10 and finishing on George’s gearbox—I’m not worried at all.”

Hamilton’s Farewell to Mercedes

Hamilton’s final weekend with Mercedes in Abu Dhabi marks the end of their 12-year partnership, which delivered eight Constructors’ Championships and six Drivers’ titles. While this season has been challenging, team principal Toto Wolff emphasized the enduring legacy of their collaboration.

Reflecting on Hamilton’s decision to leave, Wolff noted: “We knew at the start of the year that it would be a bumpy road ahead. But despite the ups and downs, we’ve kept it together, and that’s an achievement in itself.”

Wolff acknowledged the difficulties of recent races but highlighted the importance of the shared triumphs: “Nothing can take away 12 incredible years together. After next Sunday, we’ll remember the championships, the victories, and the joy we shared—not the struggles of one tough season.”

As Hamilton looks ahead to a new chapter with Ferrari, the respect and admiration between the champion and his soon-to-be former team remain unchanged.
