The speculations if Esteban Ocon will be racing in F1 next season are over. The French man signed a multi-year contract with Haas after Alpine decided not to continue their partnership with him. He will drive alongside Oliver Bearman, a young British talent from F2, in 2025.
Esteban Ocon will leave Alpine at the end of the season to join Haas for the 2025 Formula 1 season. Alpine decided to part their ways with Ocon in favor of Pierre Gasly, reportedly because the tension between the current teammates was too intense, following Ocon’s crash into Gasly in Monaco this year. However, that was never officially confirmed by Alpine.
Ocon’s move to Haas is part of the strategy to strengthen their driver’s lineup as they aim to continue their recent consistent points success and possibly have some good battles with the top teams on the track. Ocon's multi-year deal will see him team up with the young talent Oliver Bearman, who will try to learn as much as possible from Ocon in his rookie season next year. Together they are expected to create a dynamic pairing, that Haas hopes will help the team in their hunt for valuable points and consistent results next year.
Ocon was drawn to Haas mainly due to the influence of Haas' new team principal, Ayao Komatsu, who was Ocon's first race engineer when he made his debut in Formula 1. Their previous working relationship and Komatsu's vision for Haas' future were key factors in Ocon's decision to join the team. Ocon expressed excitement about this new challenge, emphasizing the team's ambition and clear plans for growth in the future.
Haas sees Ocon as someone ambitious and consistent as Nico Hulkenberg, who will leave Haas to join the Audi project next year and who was able to secure many points finishes for the team this year. Ocon's experience in Formula 1, including his race win in Hungary 3 years ago and multiple podium finishes, brings hopes for even higher final position in the Constructor’s Championship next year.
