The weekend at Buriram Circuit began with an exciting Friday session. Practice delivered thrilling battles, as Alex Marquez was the fastest rider, beating his brother Marc Marquez.

From the start of the session, Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta exchanged the top positions. Marc, now with Ducati, showed his speed, yet Acosta proved he was ready to shake things up. Honda also made a strong statement with Johann Zarco, who briefly led the session. Riders Luca Marini and Joan Mir kept Honda’s momentum alive, managing to stay in the top five.

As the session came to an end, the battles intensified. Acosta climbed back to the top before Marc Marquez reclaimed his dominance. However, the biggest surprise came from Alex Marquez, who put in an unbelievable lap to secure P1. Meanwhile, Fabio Di Giannantonio even pushed Francesco Bagnaia out of the top ten, though Di Giannantonio himself couldn’t secure a top-ten finish.

As the clock neared the end, every rider was on track, trying to break into the top ten and secure a direct pass into Q2. But it was a session to forget for Bagnaia. First, yellow flags from Marco Bezzecchi’s crash disrupted his flying lap. Then, on his final attempt, he was slowed down by Franco Morbidelli, who was riding slowly on the racing line, preventing Bagnaia from improving his time. Frustrations boiled over as the two riders exchanged gestures—the incident is now under review by the FIM MotoGP stewards. As a result, Bagnaia ended in P13, meaning he will have to fight through Q1 tomorrow for the first time since 2023.

And while Bagnaia struggled, Alex Marquez was the star of practice, edging out his older brother Marc for the top spot. Acosta rounded out the top three, putting KTM straight into Q2.

Honda had a strong run, with Joan Mir in P6 and Zarco in P10, securing direct entry into Q2—something the team hasn't achieved in a long time. Fabio Quartararo took P8 but ended the session with an unexpected bike issue, forcing his team to wheel the bike off the track. Meanwhile, Ai Ogura took P9, while his teammate Raul Fernandez secured P7.

Q1 Will Be Intense

With several top riders stuck in Q1, the battle for a Q2 spot will be fierce. Maverick Viñales showed strong pace, but Brad Binder struggled in Practice. Jack Miller also had a difficult session, suffering a crash at Turn 12 early on.

Joining them in Q1 are Di Giannantonio, Luca Marini, Alex Rins, Miguel Oliveira, Enea Bastianini, and Somkiat Chantra. Stay tuned for the action tomorrow!
