The 2025 season is slowly approaching and looks to be an exciting one, with big rider changes and new partnerships. The grid features both factory and satellite teams, each playing a crucial role in the championship’s outcome.

What’s the Difference Between Factory and Satellite Teams?

  • Factory teams are directly run by motorcycle manufacturers (such as Ducati, Honda, Yamaha, KTM, and Aprilia). These teams receive the latest and best bikes, unlimited technical support, and often have bigger budgets. Their goal is to win championships and develop new technology.
  • Satellite teams are independent teams that lease bikes from factory teams. While they may receive competitive bikes, they don’t always get the latest upgrades as quickly as the factory teams. However, some satellite teams can still fight for podiums and even championships.

Here’s a look at the full 2025 MotoGP teams:

Factory Teams

Ducati Lenovo Team

  • Riders: Francesco Bagnaia & Marc Marquez

Ducati is the team to beat, as they have dominated the last few seasons. In 2025, they make a bold move by signing Marc Marquez, pairing him with their star rider Bagnaia. Ducati’s bikes are known for their powerful engines and top speed, making them a major title contender.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing

  • Riders: Pedro Acosta & Brad Binder

KTM is investing in young talent, and their decision to promote Pedro Acosta proves that. He joins the experienced Brad Binder, who has already secured multiple wins for KTM. The Austrian manufacturer continues to develop competitive and solid bikes.

Aprilia Racing

  • Riders: Jorge Martin & Marco Bezzecchi

Aprilia has been steadily improving and is now considered a serious title challenger. Jorge Martin joins the team alongside Marco Bezzecchi, another rising star. Aprilia is now pushing hard to fight against Ducati.

Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP

  • Riders: Fabio Quartararo & Alex Rins

Yamaha has struggled in recent years but is determined to return to the top. Fabio Quartararo remains the team’s best hope. He is joined by Alex Rins, who has won races with Honda and Suzuki. Yamaha’s strength is in corner speed, but they need more horsepower to compete at the front. Their new V4 engine may change their fortunes.

HRC Honda

  • Riders: Luca Marini & Joan Mir

Honda is rebuilding itself after losing both Marc Marquez and their sponsor Repsol. They now rely on Luca Marini and Joan Mir. Honda’s bikes have been difficult to ride in recent years, but with new leadership, they aim to improve and return to winning ways.

Satellite Teams

Pramac Racing (Yamaha Satellite)

  • Riders: Jack Miller & Miguel Oliveira

In 2025, Pramac leaves Ducati and joins Yamaha, which is a huge change. They bring in Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira while becoming Yamaha’s main development team.

LCR Honda (Honda Satellite)

  • Riders: Johann Zarco & Somkiat Chantra

LCR Honda has been in MotoGP for decades, helping Honda test and develop new parts.

Gresini Racing (Ducati Satellite)

  • Riders: Alex Marquez & Fermin Aldeguer

Gresini is an independent team but has had success with Ducati. They aim to continue their strong performances, often finishing ahead of some factory teams.

Mooney VR46 Racing Team (Ducati Satellite)

  • Riders: Franco Morbidelli & Fabio Di Giannantonio

This team was created by MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi and is currently using Ducati bikes.

Tech3 GASGAS Factory Racing (KTM Satellite)

  • Riders: Enea Bastianini & Maverick Viñales

Tech3 is KTM’s satellite team, running under the GASGAS brand. They help KTM test new developments and often give young riders a chance to prove themselves.

Trackhouse Racing Team (Aprilia Satellite)

  • Riders: Raul Fernandez & Ai Ogura

The only American team on the grid and also the only Aprilia satellite team. They have two young talents, and they aim to prove themselves.
