Valentino Rossi is planning to be more present in the MotoGP paddock this year. After retiring from MotoGP three years ago and switching to the world of four-wheel racing, Rossi has set himself a resolution for 2025.

“I regretted not being so present at the races [in 2024] and I had less time to work with the riders of our Academy,” Rossi told Motorsport. “In 2025, I want to be more present in MotoGP races, so I will also do fewer car races for that reason.”

Rossi’s Rivals on Center Stage

Rossi’s influence in MotoGP remains undeniable, primarily through his VR46 Academy, which continues to produce outstanding riders. Francesco Bagnaia is one of Rossi’s standout proteges, having won two titles and remaining a key contender. In 2025, Bagnaia will share the factory Ducati garage with Marc Marquez, Rossi’s fierce rival, in one of the most controversial clashes

The Rossi-Marquez rivalry reignited last year when Rossi revisited their infamous 2015 clash, accusing Marquez of costing him the title.

A New Era for Team VR46

Rossi’s VR46 team is undergoing significant transformation, becoming Ducati’s new factory-supported satellite team. Following Pramac Racing’s departure, VR46 will now enjoy a more privileged status, including access to a factory-spec Ducati for Fabio Di Giannantonio.

Joining Di Giannantonio in the VR46 lineup is Franco Morbidelli, another graduate of Rossi’s Academy. Meanwhile, Marco Bezzecchi has moved to Aprilia, becoming a factory rider. Rossi’s brother, Luca Marini, is preparing for his second season as a factory Honda rider.

The Legacy Lives On

Rossi’s more frequent appearances promise to bring fresh excitement into MotoGP. His ongoing mentorship of rising stars, combined with his undeniable star power, ensures that the 2025 season will be thrilling.

Whether it’s the fierce battles between his proteges and rivals or VR46’s evolving role in the championship, Rossi’s return is set to leave a lasting mark. As the paddock prepares to welcome its legendary figurehead back into the fold, fans are bracing for a season filled with drama, emotion, and unforgettable racing moments.
