Valentino Rossi and Yamaha, one of MotoGP’s most iconic partnerships, are set to part ways in 2025 as Yamaha ends its collaboration with Rossi’s VR46 clothing brand. This marks the conclusion of a significant chapter in MotoGP history, as Yamaha introduces a new apparel supplier and reorganizes its Moto2 structure. Despite this shift, Rossi remains connected to Yamaha as an ambassador, while his VR46 team strengthens ties with Ducati.

In a subtle but significant change, Yamaha has officially parted ways with Valentino Rossi’s clothing line in 2025, marking the end of a long-standing partnership between the MotoGP legend and the motorcycle manufacturer. For years, Yamaha’s MotoGP team sported apparel created by Rossi’s VR46 brand, but this year, the team will switch to a new supplier, Italian sportswear brand Macron.

When questioned about this change, Yamaha team manager Maio Meregalli was asked if it signified the brand was cutting ties with the past. In an interview with GPOne, Meregalli clarified, “It is a consequence, but not because of the clothing. The negotiations with the new supplier started much earlier.”

However, this change is more than just about attire. Yamaha will also no longer collaborate with Rossi’s VR46 brand on their Moto2 efforts. Instead, Pramac, who will be making the switch from Ducati to Yamaha, will manage the Moto2 team. Meregalli explained that the Moto2 operations had previously been overseen by a division of Yamaha not directly involved with the MotoGP team, and that responsibility has now been transferred. “The MotoGP structure will be running it, and it will be entrusted to Pramac,” he added.

While this marks the end of the VR46-Yamaha collaboration in both MotoGP and Moto2, Rossi’s personal connection with Yamaha remains intact. Rossi will continue to serve as an official ambassador for the brand.

Meanwhile, VR46 has strengthened its ties with Ducati. With Pramac’s departure to Yamaha, VR46 has become Ducati’s main satellite team for 2025. This partnership brings a significant boost to VR46, as they will have access to a factory-spec bike this season. Fabio di Giannantonio will join the ranks of the factory riders, including the likes of Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia, as he races on the same machinery.

This marks a pivotal moment in the evolving relationships within MotoGP, as Yamaha moves forward with new partnerships, while Rossi and VR46 continue to leave their mark on the sport.
