Pierer Mobility Group (PMG) has revealed that its long-standing CEO, Stefan Pierer, will step down from his position. Pierer, who will also leave his role as CEO of KTM AG, will move to a Co-CEO role alongside the new CEO, Gottfried Neumeister, who joined PMG management as Co-CEO in 2023. This leadership change marks a pivotal moment for the company and its restructuring process.

"Stefan Pierer will hand over the role of CEO of Pierer Mobility AG and KTM AG to Gottfried Neumeister," the company stated, emphasizing Pierer’s continued involvement as Co-CEO to support the transition and ensure stability during this transformative period.

A Legacy of Passion and Innovation
Stefan Pierer, who has been at the helm of KTM for decades, expressed mixed emotions about stepping down: "For me, KTM was always more than just a company—it was and is a passion, a mission, and a family," Pierer said. "The decision to hand over the helm was not an easy one. I am deeply convinced that Gottfried Neumeister, with his strategic foresight and commitment, is the right choice to lead KTM into the future."

Neumeister, in turn, acknowledged the remarkable legacy left by Pierer: "Stefan Pierer has created a unique company that reflects the passion and pioneering spirit of all employees. My mission is to preserve this legacy while forging new paths," he stated. "KTM stands for courage, innovation, and passion—values we will continue to uphold as we build the best motorcycles in the world."

Change of Leadership
This leadership transition comes against the backdrop of financial challenges for KTM AG, which is undergoing insolvency proceedings to avoid bankruptcy. These proceedings were initiated late last year, prompting the company to implement cost-cutting measures, including workforce reductions and scaled-back production volumes.

A Vision for the Future
While these changes mark the end of an era under Pierer’s sole leadership, they also signal the beginning of a new chapter for KTM and the Pierer Mobility Group. Neumeister’s vision for the company emphasizes innovation and resilience, building on KTM's strong foundation while adapting to new market realities.

With Pierer continuing to provide guidance as Co-CEO, KTM is poised to navigate its challenges and emerge stronger, reaffirming its position as a global leader in the motorcycle industry.
