News.gp journalist and a girl with big dreamsRalf Schumacher says he’s heard that Yuki Tsunoda will be driving for Red Bull from the next race in Japan, but he advises him not to accept the offer.
There is a lot of talk about Liam Lawson possibly being replaced soon, as things haven’t been going well for him at Red Bull. The New Zealander was chosen to take over from Sergio Perez before the season started, but he’s had a tough time so far.
In the first two races, he was stuck at the back of the grid and couldn’t get much speed out of the RB21 car. Starting last to both, the Print Race and the main Grand Prix, in China, he wasn't able to progress much and is still yet to score a point, which doesn't really help Red Bull in the Constructors' Championship.
Former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher claims that Red Bull has already decided to drop Lawson and bring back Yuki Tsunoda, his former teammate from VCARB, with some saying that this change could happen as soon as the next race in Japan.
Tsunoda was overlooked for the Red Bull seat last year, but he’s been doing well with his current team. Even though he says he is “100%” ready to race alongside Max Verstappen, Schumacher believes it might not be the right move for him.
"If I was Tsunoda’s manager, I wouldn’t recommend him to go there," he told Sky Germany.
"At the moment, Racing Bulls is the better car and Tsunoda is getting on really well with it. He can’t do himself any favours with it."
Tsunoda has shown some strong performances this season and seems comfortable in the Racing Bulls car. While a move to Red Bull might sound exciting, staying where he is could be the smarter choice for now.
