MotoGP kicked off with thrilling action in Malaysia, setting the stage for a crucial weekend. Francesco Bagnaia mastered the changing conditions and took the lead with a late lap on fresh tires. The reigning champion impressed in the opening session, setting a 0.743-second gap to second place, Maverick Viñales. Viñales also ran on fresh tires, finishing strong in FP1.

Marco Bezzecchi showed a steady performance as he claimed third place. Jack Miller delivered consistency on his KTM, completing 15 laps and securing fourth. Rookie Pedro Acosta displayed promising speed despite his crash at Turn 9, finishing in fifth. Jorge Martin took sixth, ending 1.647 seconds behind Bagnaia and setting the stage for what seems like an intense weekend.
Alex Marquez claimed seventh, followed by Fabio Quartararo, who faced some technical issues during the session. Andrea Iannone made a surprising return, securing ninth place on fresh tires. Augusto Fernandez rounded out the top ten.
Further back, Marc Marquez finished 12th, with Enea Bastianini and Brad Binder rounding out the top 15.
