Michele Pirro to Substitute for Fabio Di Giannantonio at the Barcelona MotoGP

Following Fabio Di Giannantonio’s recent shoulder surgery, Ducati test rider Michele Pirro will step in for him at the season-ending Solidarity Grand Prix in Barcelona. Pirro is set to join Marco Bezzecchi in the VR46 Racing Team garage, marking his first appearance of the season under the new MotoGP concessions system.

The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team has announced that Ducati test rider Michele Pirro will step in for Fabio Di Giannantonio at the Solidarity Grand Prix in Barcelona.
Following successful shoulder surgery, Di Giannantonio now has time to prepare for the 2025 season. His place was filled by Andrea Iannone in Malaysia, marking his highly anticipated return to MotoGP. However, for the season finale in Barcelona, it will be Pirro partnering with Marco Bezzecchi in the VR46 garage, just ahead of the team’s first official test on Tuesday.
Thanks to Ducati’s form in recent years and the new concessions system, this appearance will be Pirro’s first of the 2024 season.
