The COTA chief noted that ticket sales for the United States GP have increased since Max Verstappen stopped his winning run.
There are just six grand prix weekends remaining in the 2024 F1 season, with the next stop being the United States Grand Prix, held in Austin, Texas in two weeks. It will be the second race on American soil this year, following May's Miami Grand Prix. The Las Vegas GP, set for later in the season, will be the third and final U.S. event of the year.
The classic Austin weekend will also offer the next chapter in the championship battle between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, who has steadily worked his way back into contention since claiming his maiden victory in Miami.
Last year, the Circuit of the Americas attracted over 420,000 spectators across three days of track action. This year’s event, featuring the sprint format, promises even more excitement, offering fans additional competitive sessions to enjoy.
As Max Verstappen has not been as dominant this season compared to last year's record-breaking 15 wins, and with Lando Norris winning the first event in the States, Austin circuit boss Bobby Epstein revealed that the GP has seen a substantial boost in ticket sales.
"I think we're in good shape coming up to this grand prix, although the route to get here was a little bit different this year from a fan standpoint, in that our ticket sales really took off when Max stopped winning, and it got more competitive," said Epstein quoted by ESPN.
"So I give a lot of credit to our fan base and the audience, and that they really are tuned in, they are educated and they're paying attention. And I think it's exciting to see the season shape up the way it is."
Each year, the organizers in Austin not only draw fans to the F1 race but also offer a vibrant lineup of accompanying events, including performances by major music stars, such as this year's planned concert by Eminem.
