Marc Marquez dominated the practice session in Argentina, setting a new lap record and finishing ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio. Meanwhile, his teammate Francesco Bagnaia had a tough end to his session after a late crash.
Marquez showed strong performance from start to finish. He topped the Friday session and even broke his own lap record from 2014. His new best lap time was 1:37.295.
Di Giannantonio also managed to get into the 1:37 range but posted a time of 1:37.430s, placing him second. Alex Marquez completed the top three.
As mentioned earlier, Bagnaia crashed with six minutes left in the session but still managed to stay in the top ten, securing a direct Q2 spot for tomorrow. Early in the session, Alex Marquez led with a time of 1:38.205s before his brother took over. For a brief moment, Johann Zarco managed to take the lead, but Marc quickly responded with a much faster time, getting close to his own record with 40 minutes remaining.
Marco Bezzecchi was the first rider to break the lap record with a time of 1:37.510s. However, Marquez quickly responded with a 1:37.438s before sealing his dominance with the fastest lap of the session.
Before the session ended, Di Giannantonio jumped from outside the top ten to second place, pushing Bagnaia to 10th. An interesting performance came from Alex Rins, who followed Marquez’s pace and moved up to sixth place.
Johann Zarco, despite crashing at Turn 2 earlier in the session, managed to finish seventh. Fabio Quartararo had technical issues, meaning he had to complete the session on his second bike, yet still secured eighth place.
At the very end, Pedro Acosta took ninth place but unfortunately crashed at Turn 2 after the checkered flag.
With the results now set, the grid is ready for tomorrow’s qualifying session.
