Aprilia’s stand-in rider, Lorenzo Savadori, has admitted that he is still not fully fit, yet he continues to prepare for the Americas Grand Prix. Savadori, Aprilia’s test rider, stepped in after reigning champion Jorge Martin suffered a training accident.
Savadori’s campaign took a hit when he partially dislocated his shoulder during qualifying for the Argentina Grand Prix. While he attempted to push through the sprint race, the injury forced him to retire early. Aprilia then decided to withdraw him from the main race to allow him more time to recover for the upcoming round in Austin.
As he prepares for his first-ever race at the Circuit of the Americas, Savadori is aware of the physical challenge ahead.
“Just like Argentina, Austin is a track where I’ve never ridden, and it’s known to be tough and physically demanding,” Savadori explained to MotoGP.com. “After my injury in Argentina, I’m still not at 100%, but I’ll give it my all. I can’t wait to try this fantastic track and continue working on the RS-GP25’s development.”
The spotlight will be on Aprilia this weekend, as Marco Bezzecchi hopes to bounce back after a rough round in Argentina, where he crashed following a collision with Fabio Quartararo.
Looking ahead to the American round, Bezzecchi remains optimistic.
“I’m happy to go to Austin, especially because I want to make up for the last race,” he said to Motorsport.com. “It’s the most physically demanding track on the MotoGP calendar, but I’m motivated. My team and I are getting to know each other better, and things are moving in the right direction.”
With both Savadori and Bezzecchi determined to put in a strong performance, Aprilia will be aiming for a standout weekend in Texas.
