News.GP journalist who’s all about the thrilling worlds of MotoGP and Formula 1.Jack Miller kicked off his first MotoGP season with Pramac Yamaha at the Thai Grand Prix, showing both speed and resilience. Despite a strong qualifying session, a crash in the Sprint race set him back. In Sunday’s main race, Miller fought through the pack, overcoming a loose fairing to finish as Yamaha’s top rider. While he had hoped for a better result, his performance proves he’s adapting well to his new machine.
Jack Miller couldn’t be happier after leaving behind a frustrating season with KTM. Now riding for Pramac Yamaha, the Australian has noticed a huge improvement.
Last year, his KTM RC16 was seen violently shaking through a corner at Motegi, but this season, things are much different.
“I have zero chatter on the M1,” Miller said with a grin in an interview with MotoGP.com
Joking about the change, he added, “Well, the rear tyre isn’t trying to throw itself off the bike every time I enter a corner, so that’s a positive!”
Miller was Yamaha’s best rider during the season opener in Buriram, and he is clearly enjoying his new bike.
Sprint Race Crash in Thailand
Miller started strong in Thailand, qualifying fourth on the grid. However, in the Sprint race, he crashed out of sixth place.
“Even after a crash, you understand why it happened,” Miller explained. “After three or four months off the bike and not being competitive for a while, it’s great to be back at the front and fighting with the best.”
Main Race
Sunday’s main race was another challenge for Miller. He ran in sixth place for the first half but had to settle for 11th after his fairing came loose. Despite this setback, he still finished as the top Yamaha rider.
Meanwhile, the best KTM finisher, Brad Binder, crossed the line in eighth, just over two seconds ahead of Miller.
Miller’s excitement about his new bike is clear. If he keeps up this momentum, Yamaha fans have plenty to look forward to this season!
