When the Ducati Lenovo Team revealed their 2025 bikes in Italy, one question began to buzz in the world of MotoGP: Are Bagnaia and Marquez the dream line-up?

It’s an interesting question. The Italian and Spaniard duo have combined 11 World Championship titles, eight of which were earned in the MotoGP class. But does their partnership really represent the best in MotoGP history? Let’s take a look at some of the most iconic duos in MotoGP history.

Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo (Repsol Honda)

Combined titles: 9 (7 in the premier class)

Though short-lived, the partnership of Marquez and Lorenzo in 2019 brought two of the biggest stars together under one roof. During this time, Marquez had already claimed six titles, while Lorenzo had earned five of his own. Unfortunately, Lorenzo’s struggles with injury and form meant that this dream team never reached its full potential. Still, on paper, their pairing was one of the most iconic line-ups.

Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda)

Combined titles: 8

From 2013 to 2018, Marquez and Pedrosa were part of Honda’s factory team in what became known as a golden era for the manufacturer. While Marquez was the one taking the Championship wins, Pedrosa quietly solidified his reputation as one of MotoGP’s greatest riders. During their partnership, Pedrosa achieved nine of his 31 MotoGP victories and consistently delivered top-four Championship finishes, making this pairing a model of balance within the team.

Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda)

Combined titles: 5

This duo might not top the list in terms of total championships, but when it comes to raw talent, Stoner and Pedrosa are among the best riders MotoGP has ever seen. Stoner’s two premier class titles, including the 2011 Championship he dominated on the Honda RC213V, solidified his place in MotoGP history. Meanwhile, Pedrosa’s unmatched consistency and skill made him a vital part of Honda’s dominance during this period.

Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo (Factory Yamaha)

Combined titles: 14 (10 in the premier class)

In terms of raw statistics and Championship success, few pairings compare to Rossi and Lorenzo. Together, the Yamaha teammates redefined excellence in MotoGP. While their on-track rivalry was fierce, the pair accumulated four MotoGP titles for Yamaha during their time together, creating an undeniable legacy. Rossi, the charismatic nine-time World Champion, paired with Lorenzo, formed a duo that had everything: passion, precision, and pure racing talent.

Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team)

Combined titles: 11 (8 in the premier class)

Now we come to the current duo of Bagnaia and Marquez, a partnership that’s being called the "dream team" and has the potential to be remembered as one of the all-time greats. Bagnaia, the reigning MotoGP Champion, and Marquez, with his legendary status as a six-time World Champion, make for a pairing that speaks for itself. Together, they represent a fascinating mix of youth, experience, and extraordinary talent. Could their collaboration start a new era of dominance in MotoGP?
