Franco Morbidelli showcased his speed and skill in a thrilling free practice session at the GP of the Americas. Battling tricky wet conditions, he set the fastest lap, edging out Jack Miller and Marc Márquez. With unpredictable weather and intense competition, the weekend promises more exciting MotoGP action!
The MotoGP weekend started with a rainy free practice session, making things tricky for the riders. A surprising moment came when Jorge Martin was seen in the Aprilia garage. However, he is not racing yet and was only visiting the team.
Marco Bezzecchi had a tough start as his bike had technical issues just four minutes into the session. The first fastest time was set by Johann Zarco with a lap of 2:24. Soon after, Jack Miller from Yamaha improved it to 2:23. However, Marc Marquez quickly took the top spot with an impressive 2:22.009, showing his excellent control in the wet conditions.
With 38 minutes left in the session, Bezzecchi returned with his second bike. As the session continued, riders adapted to the wet track, and lap times got faster. Jack Miller recorded a 2:20 before Marc Marquez once again took the lead with a 2:19 lap.
Bezzecchi continued to struggle as both his bikes had issues, making him the only rider without a lap time for most of the session. Meanwhile, Zarco and Miller also managed to get into the 2:19s, but Francesco Bagnaia improved further, dipping into the 2:18s. Soon after, Franco Morbidelli set an even faster time of 2:17. Marc Marquez responded by reclaiming the top spot with a 2:17.254.
The session saw multiple lead changes. Miller briefly led with a 2:16.526, but Marquez was quick to take it back with a 2:16.493. However, Marquez then suffered a high-side crash at Turn 2. Fortunately, he walked away unhurt.
With 28 minutes left, Franco Morbidelli went fastest with a 2:16.342, followed by Alex Marquez moving into second. Soon, Alex Marquez took the lead with a 2:15.838, only to be overtaken again with a 2:15.653. With 22 minutes remaining, Francesco Bagnaia set the quickest time, closely followed by Fabio Quartararo, just 0.009 seconds behind.
Marc Marquez returned to the track with 15 minutes left. With 10 minutes remaining, Morbidelli led with a 2:15.026. Then, Jack Miller became the first to break into the 2:14s, clocking a 2:14.186. The rookie riders struggled to match the pace of the experienced racers.
Jack Miller then set an even faster 2:13.531, beating Marc Marquez. Pedro Acosta followed as the second rider into the 2:13s. With two minutes left, Johann Zarco took the lead with a 2:12.838. However, Franco Morbidelli responded with the fastest lap of the session at 2:12.531, with Miller right behind him and Marquez in third.
The wet conditions made the session challenging, but riders quickly adapted, producing exciting battles for the top spot. Morbidelli ended the session as the fastest rider, with Miller and Marquez completing the top three. With unpredictable weather and intense competition, the upcoming sessions promise more thrilling action!
