Franco Colapinto suffered another major accident during qualifying for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, leaving Williams facing yet another setback in an already challenging season and the team's mechanics with hands full of work once again.

The Argentine driver clipped the inside wall at Turn 16, which broke his steering and sent him into the opposite wall at high speed, sustaining a significant impact of over 50G. His car slid a long way down the track before stopping near the pit entry. The incident ended his qualifying early, leaving him 14th on the grid.

Despite the severity of the crash, Colapinto told his team he was not injured and got out of the car on his own. He was checked by doctors, though his participation in the grand prix remains uncertain, with Williams prioritizing his health before making a final decision.

This incident adds to a series of costly incidents for Williams in recent races, adding to their financial and logistical troubles. Colapinto’s crash comes just weeks after his previous major accident in Sao Paulo, where both he and teammate Alex Albon suffered heavy shunts during qualifying and the race.

In Mexico, Albon endured two crashes in one weekend, including contact with Oliver Bearman in practice and Yuki Tsunoda in the race. These incidents have cost the team over $3 million, which is a huge amount for a team with limited money.

The repeated damage has also been tough on Williams’ mechanics, who are working overtime to fix the cars during a busy end to the season. With triple-header race weekends back-to-back, the team is struggling to keep up with repairs and spare parts.
