Marco Bezzecchi’s promising weekend at the Argentina Grand Prix took a turn when he collided with Fabio Quartararo during the opening lap, leading to his race ending in the gravel. Despite the crash, Bezzecchi took full responsibility and remains focused on improving his qualifying performance for future races.

Marco Bezzecchi and his team had high hopes for the Argentina Grand Prix, as Bezzecchi had triumphed there two years ago. However, despite high expectations, things didn’t go as planned throughout the weekend. Bezzecchi faced problems in qualifying, and by the time Sunday’s race came around, he was fighting to make progress as he approached the first corner. Unfortunately, his attempt to gain positions led to an aggressive move that resulted in contact with Fabio Quartararo’s rear tire. While Quartararo was able to continue the race, Bezzecchi’s race ended in the gravel. He immediately took full responsibility for the incident.

"It was my mistake – I braked too late," Bezzecchi told Crash.net. "I managed to avoid Franco Morbidelli, but unfortunately, I hit Fabio Quartararo’s rear tire. It was a bad mistake on my part, and I want to apologise to Fabio. I’ve already spoken to his team as well."

Despite the crash, Bezzecchi remained optimistic, saying, "We had the pace to fight for a good position. We still need to improve in qualifying, and that’s something I’ll focus on for the next race."

Bezzecchi had felt confident during the warm-up session and believed he could have had a strong race. However, the mistake in the first corner dashed those plans.

Fabio Quartararo also spoke about the incident, describing it as unfortunate. However, he noted that even without the crash, his Yamaha lacked the pace to compete with the top riders.

“There’s not much to say,” Quartararo said. "The touch between Bezzecchi and me in the first corner was unfortunate, but even without that, our pace wasn’t strong enough. I was in last place, and I couldn’t keep up with the front runners."

Quartararo acknowledged that, under different circumstances, he might have finished a bit higher, but it was a challenging weekend for him. “Starting from the back made it tough to move up,” he added. “It was a difficult race overall. Hopefully, we can do better at the next GP.”

Despite causing the crash, Bezzecchi was not penalized by the race stewards.
