Nico Hulkenberg was disqualified from the Brazilian Grand Prix after receiving a push from marshals to get back onto the track, which goes against F1 rules.

In very wet conditions at Interlagos on Lap 27, Hulkenberg spun off at Turn 1, ending up at the back of the pack. Race control called for a Virtual Safety Car, assuming his car would need recovery. However, with help from marshals, who pushed his car out of the gravel, he was able to continue racing.

However, F1 regulations strictly forbid drivers from receiving outside assistance to rejoin the race. As a result, Hulkenberg was shown the black flag as soon as he joined the field again and got disqualified.

This is a quite a rare penalty in Formula 1, marking the first disqualification by black flag since 2007, when Felipe Massa and Giancarlo Fisichella were penalized during the Canadian Grand Prix for leaving the pit lane under a red light.

Hulkenberg’s disqualification added to the day’s drama, as the stewards also announced post-race investigations for Lando Norris, George Russell, Yuki Tsunoda, and Liam Lawson due to start procedure violations.

Additionally, the Mercedes drivers are under review for possible unapproved tyre pressure adjustments during the race’s chaotic opening, with Carlos Sainz being summoned to the stewards as well for dangerous driving.
