As the 20-year-old prepares to join KTM’s factory team in 2025, his bold personality and undeniable talent are set to make him a serious contender for race wins
Pedro Acosta is someone who does not hold back, and his latest appearance on Spanish television proved just that. Acosta made funny comments about some of his biggest rivals, including six-time world champion Marc Marquez and reigning champion Jorge Martin, in an interview on La Revuelta.
The 20-year-old rider will join KTM’s factory team in 2025 after an incredible rookie season with Tech3. With his raw talent and fearless approach, Acosta is expected to be a serious contender for race wins, even though KTM’s competitiveness remains a question for the upcoming season.
Acosta Takes Aim at Marquez and Martin
Never one to miss an opportunity to stir things up, Acosta’s sharp humor was on full display during his TV appearance. When he was asked about Aprilia’s Jorge Martin, Acosta said: “With Jorge Martin, I get along better—until I raced with him. I like you, but without feelings. I’m a tough guy, like ice—cold.”
But it was his response about Marc Marquez that raised eyebrows. When the host mentioned Marquez, Acosta simply replied: “Who? I focus on me. I don’t want to know anything about the grid.” Then, adding another comment, he said, “Who eats quietly, eats twice. This year, sex and rock and roll.”
While Marquez will likely brush off this remark, Acosta’s confidence is undeniable. His on-track performances continue to back up his words, with Acosta finishing fourth overall in the recent Buriram pre-season test.
KTM’s Future
Beyond these entertaining moments, Acosta’s future in MotoGP remains a subject of intense speculation. With KTM’s future to be decided next week, rumors about Acosta’s switch to Ducati have begun to buzz more.
There has even been talk of a potential move to Valentino Rossi’s team in 2026, but the rumor was already denied. However, Acosta has dismissed the uncertainty and revealed that a visit to KTM’s factory showed him a stark contrast between reality and media reports. “It was night and day different from what I had been reading,” he said.
Looking Ahead
With the season fast approaching, all eyes will be on Acosta to see if he can turn his bold words into championship performances.
