Oscar Piastri has dismissed Helmut Marko's claim that his manager is looking to engage in talks with Red Bull about a possible transfer from McLaren to the team.
In less than two years, Oscar Piastri has rapidly made a name for himself as a promising future champion in Formula 1.
After winning back-to-back championships in the Formula 2 and Formula 3 series, he joined the premier class with McLaren in 2023. During his rookie season, he managed to secure a sprint victory and two podium finishes on top.
In 2024, the Australian continued to impress by securing 2 victories, including his maiden one at the Hungarian Grand Prix, along with five additional podium finishes.
Given his exceptional talent, it's no surprise that he other F1 teams might try to lure him away from McLaren, where he is under contract until the end of 2026.
Ahead of the Mexican Grand Prix weekend, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko shared that Piastri’s manager, Mark Webber, is “intensively seeking conversation” over potential future move to the team.
However, Piastri has ruled out any interest in joining Red Bull, stating that he is happy to be with the McLaren team.
When asked if a Red Bull switch is on the cards for his future, Piastri, quoted by RacingNews365, responded: “Definitely not. I'm very happy where I am.
“I'm under contract for the next two years after this, and I'm certainly not looking to go elsewhere.
“It wouldn't be a week in F1 without some comments from Helmut.”
In response to questions about whether he was surprised by the rumour of Red Bull potentially targeting him, Piastri said: “Not massively.
“It’s a nice compliment, I would say. But again, I’m very happy with where I am, and I think they [Red Bull] have quite a big pool of drivers that they can choose from if they want to.”
Piastri currently sits in fourth place in the championship with 247 points, significantly contributing with his performance to McLaren's position at the top of the Constructors' Championship.
