Miguel Oliveira has been officially sidelined for the upcoming Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin, which is set for the weekend of March 30. Oliveira sustained an injury during a Sprint Race in Argentina, where he was taken out in a crash by another rider.
Although initial medical assessments at the circuit’s medical center confirmed that he had not suffered any fractures, he was diagnosed with a sternoclavicular contusion and a substantial hematoma. Despite hopes for a quick recovery, further medical examinations upon his return on Sunday revealed that he had dislocated his sternoclavicular joint with ligament damage, forcing him to miss the Texas round.
In the coming days, Oliveira will undergo additional examinations to track his healing progress, which will also determine his return date.
Stepping up to replace him will be Augusto Fernandez, the 2022 Moto2 Champion and current Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP Test Rider.
In reports, the entire Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP squad shared their best wishes for Miguel’s speedy recovery while warmly welcoming Fernandez to the team.
