Max Verstappen expects tyre management to be the key to a good result at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, with the cool nighttime temperatures likely to impact performance.
Max Verstappen is in a strong position to win his fourth F1 world championship after a stunning performance at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. Starting in 17th place, Verstappen showed incredible skill in the rain to work his way through the field to claim victory.
The next race is the iconic Las Vegas Grand Prix, where Verstappen could wrap up the championship as he only needs to outscore Norris by three points to secure the title and join an elite group of drivers who have won four championships in a row.
Norris missed a big chance to close the gap in Brazil after a disappointing result despite starting 16 places ahead of Verstappen, who left with a 62-point lead over the Briton.
To keep his slim hopes alive, Norris will need a strong finish in Las Vegas while also hoping Verstappen has an off day. If the gap between them is less than 60 points after this Sunday, the championship fight will continue to the next race.
Looking ahead to the event, Verstappen is already preparing for the challenges of the Las Vegas Strip. He pointed out that tyre management will be a key factor, with cooler temperatures expected to affect performance. On top of that, the circuit’s design, with long straights and plenty of overtaking spots, should make for an exciting race.
"Vegas is the start of the final triple header of the year so this is the final push for everyone," said the Dutchman quoted on his official website.
"We performed well here last year and it is a really fast circuit, with long straights and a lot of opportunities to overtake and go racing.
"Once again, the temperatures look quite low so it will be about managing the tyres. We are taking each race as it comes and are looking forward to the final races of the season."
Other teams, such as Ferrari, also appear strong heading into the weekend and will aim to challenge Red Bull, as the Constructors' Championship battle is still far from over.
