After the canceled FP1, Friday’s afternoon practice session was critical and packed with action. Despite the limited track time, Marc Marquez delivered an amazing performance, clocking a time of 1:27.770. His brother, Alex Marquez, also managed to improve on his last lap and ended the session just behind Marc Marquez. Marco Bezzecchi completed the top three with an impressive showing for the Italian fans at the Australian Grand Prix.

The session had its share of drama, with rain threatening early on. Riders and teams quickly set their benchmarks within the first five minutes. Championship leader Jorge Martin crashed at Turn 4 in the early stages of the session but was unhurt. With 45 minutes left, a red flag stopped the session due to safety concerns, and both championship rivals Francesco Bagnaia and Martin had yet to set a time. After the session resumed, Martin immediately broke into the top 10 on his flying lap.

Martin continued to improve, eventually placing 0.009 seconds behind Marc Marquez, who was holding P1. Home hero Jack Miller managed to enter the 1:28s, but Marquez soon responded by dipping into the 1:27s. Marc Marquez’s time held strong throughout the remainder of the session, and his brother Alex managed to join him at the top, making it a Gresini Racing one-two. Despite Martin’s early crash, he finished Friday in fourth, ahead of his rival Bagnaia. The reigning champion couldn’t crack into the 1:27s, but even so, he secured his spot in Q2. Bagnaia ended the day ahead of Maverick Viñales, who finished sixth. Brad Binder took seventh as he pushed throughout the session, finishing ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio in eighth. Ninth place was secured by Franco Morbidelli, with Alex Rins rounding out the top 10.

An unpredictable Q1 awaits on Saturday, as tensions rise. Fabio Quartararo ended in 11th, as he had vibration issues with his bike. Miller ended Friday in 12th after crashing twice, and he will be joined in Q1 by Pedro Acosta, who also crashed. Both riders were uninjured. Meanwhile, Enea Bastianini faces a challenging day after finishing in 16th.
