Marc Marquez has said that he feels "resurrected" after making the bold move to join Ducati. This decision was arguably the most significant of his career, as it saw him part ways with Honda, the team synonymous with his greatest achievements.

This unexpected shift has revitalized Marquez, as evidenced by his success with Gresini. The upcoming season will see him join the factory Ducati team, armed with their latest bike, as he aims to once again challenge for the championship.

Reflecting on the sacrifices he has made, Marquez told Motosan:
“I have given up eight thousand things to extend my sporting life. If I hadn’t, I would have walked away. That was my priority—to reignite the fire, to talk about winning titles again, to chase victories once more.

“Every rider on the grid shares this ambition, and I’m no different. But for me, success is no longer defined solely by titles. I’ve already achieved so much. What I’ve found now is a second youth.

“There was a moment when it felt like my career was over, but now I’m back. It’s as if I was dead, and suddenly, bang, I’m resurrected. Winning the title would just be the cherry on top.”

Old vs. Recent Marquez

Marquez’s journey back to the top has been anything but easy. Years of arm surgeries and career-threatening injuries left him and his body battered, nearly forcing him into early retirement.

Comparing his current form to his dominant 2019 self, Marquez reflected:
“The 2019 Marc was full of confidence. Heading into the Thai GP, I had a nearly 100-point lead and was in peak physical condition, but I was less mature then.

“Today, I’m different. I may not be better or worse, but my strengths have evolved. In 2019, it was all about pure speed. Now, I combine that with much more experience.

“That said, speed is still paramount. You can be the smartest strategist on the grid, but without speed, you’re just overthinking. With speed, everything clicks—you’re strategic, consistent, and unstoppable. That’s the balance I’ve found.”

A New Chapter with Ducati

The move to Ducati signals a strategic change for Marquez, who will now ride the most dominant bike on the grid. With the support of the Ducati factory team and alongside reigning champion Francesco Bagnaia, Marquez has positioned himself as a top contender—not just for the 2025 season but for years to come.

Marquez’s transformation is a testament to his adaptability and hunger for success. Whether he claims the title or not, he has already proven that the fire within him still burns brightly.

For fans and competitors alike, 2025 promises to be the year of a reborn Marquez—ready, as always, to chase victory and greatness.
