The Malaysian Grand Prix saw high drama when a multi-rider collision at the second corner left fans and teams holding their breath. Despite the crash being severe enough to red-flag the race, Jack Miller, Brad Binder, and Fabio Quartararo all escaped without serious injuries. Miller was treated on the circuit, but Quartararo managed to finish the race, and Binder made an attempt before pain forced him to retire.
Jack Miller, Brad Binder, and Fabio Quartararo all walked away without serious injuries from a dramatic crash during Sunday’s Malaysian Grand Prix.
The race was red-flagged following the multi-rider incident. Miller received immediate medical attention on the track, as his head collided with the back of Quartararo’s Yamaha when he fell from his KTM. Adding to the chaos, Joan Mir ran over Miller’s leg.
The incident sparked concern in the paddock. However, Miller was later seen walking back to his garage after being examined at the medical center. Despite many encouraging signs, it was clear that Miller would not be able to continue the race.
Binder attempted to rejoin the race despite pain in his left shoulder. However, the discomfort forced him to retire before the restart. Meanwhile, Quartararo suffered only a leg injury and was able to rejoin the race on his backup Yamaha, finishing in sixth place.
Quartararo was the only one of the three to speak to the media afterward. “I didn’t even see what happened,” he explained. “It just felt like someone hit me on the inside, and it was Jack’s head. I was relieved to see him in the paddock before the restart. It was a really scary crash.”
KTM team manager Francesco Guidotti reflected on the incident, relieved that no one was seriously hurt. “It looked very bad, but fortunately everyone is okay,” he said. “Jack had his foot checked at the medical center, but he’s fine, no pain at all. Brad tried to restart, but the pain in his left shoulder made it unsafe for him and the others. If the discomfort persists, he might have to get it checked out.”
Looking ahead to the final race, Guidotti added, “We’re thankful that both riders are alright.”
Race stewards investigated the incident, which started with contact between Binder and Alex Marquez, but decided no further action was necessary. Guidotti agreed with the decision, stating, “From the footage, it’s not clear. Brad was far to the inside and made contact with Marquez, which led to a chain reaction involving Fabio and Jack. It was like a domino effect—just a racing incident.”
