MotoGP champion Jorge Martin’s 2025 season got off to a rough start after a nasty crash at the Sepang Test left him with multiple fractures. The Aprilia rider will head back to Spain for surgery, putting his return to the track on hold.
In a shocking and unexpected start to the testing day, Jorge Martin's pre-season testing has come to an end after a nasty crash. The reigning champion, who recently joined Aprilia Racing, suffered two crashes on the first day. The second crash, which was a violent highside at Turn 2, left him with multiple fractures.
Medical checks confirmed that Martin had fractured his right hand and suffered breaks in his left foot. As a result, he will miss the rest of the Sepang Test. However, scans ruled out any head injuries, providing a small relief to the Spanish rider.
Following the diagnosis, Martin will return to Spain for surgery later this week. His participation in next week’s Buriram Test is now uncertain.
Martin had started strong with Aprilia, impressing at the Barcelona post-season test in November. But his preparations for the 2025 season took a major change. He will now have to focus on recovery before he can get back on track.
A statement from Aprilia confirmed the injuries: “Jorge Martin has suffered a fracture in his right hand and multiple fractures in his left foot. He underwent a CT scan and MRI, both of which were negative for any other injuries. He will stay in the hospital overnight before flying back to Europe for surgery.”
Despite the setback, Martin remains determined. He even reassured his fans, posting: “Not the best start to the 2025 season! But Martinator always comes back stronger!”
MotoGP fans will be waiting to see how quickly the champion can recover and return to action. For now, all eyes are on his recovery process and whether he’ll be fit for the upcoming races.
