Ferrari is planning to bring the last upgrade of 2024 to Austin for the next F1 race as they are now aiming to work more on the next year’s car.
Ferrari has had a season full of ups and downs, with the team securing just three victories, including a memorable home win at Monza, but also losing significant points due to their own mistakes.
At the start of the season, it seemed improbable that Ferrari would catch up to Red Bull. However, what’s even more astonishing is that Ferrari is now competing with Red Bull for second place in the championship, as the Milton Keynes-based team is struggling more with their own car than with their competitors.
The Maranello team has now publicly stated their intention to concentrate on developing a competitive car for the 2025 season, aiming to be part of the championship battle right from the start of the season.
Regarding to that, Ferrari Team Principal, Fred Vasseur, has now revealed that the minor upgrade planned for the car at the upcoming F1 United States Grand Prix held in Austin, Texas in three weeks will be the their final update of the season.
"We all know that we already started the development of the next car, and we try to do our best to have small upgrades at the next one [race]," said Vasseur quoted by Motorsport.com.
"I think it will be probably the last one for everybody; that will be true for us, but it will be true for the other teams.
"Now it's so tight overall in the last four or five, six races, if you have a look on the grid, it may get tight and every single bit can make a difference,” he added.
Currently, there is only a 75-point gap between Ferrari and McLaren in the lead of the championship, with seven races still to go. And although the focus has been mainly on the rivalry between Red Bull and McLaren, the Scuderia is still vying for the trophy.
